FREE FLOW

Gates open at 7:00 PM

Who is Freeflow? While the answer is simple in the sense that they’re a flat out captivating group of musicians that have a remarkable ability to bring people out of their seats, singing and dancing along.

A much greater challenge, however, is describing Freeflow’s sound, which features everything from Soul and funk to reggae and hip-hop. They have often been compared to bands like Sublime and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, yet have nurtured a sound distinctively all their own.

“To miss them live is to grossly cheat yourself of easily one of the best live bands Vancouver has to offer.” – Mark Bignell CFRO 102.7 Vancouver Co-Op Radio

DANIEL WESLEY

Gates open at 7:00 PM

If making music isn’t about having fun, what’s the point in doing it? That philosophy sums up Daniel Wesley, the 33-year-old Vancouver based singer / songwriter.  As he nears the end of his career’s first decade, what comes accross most vividly on the recond – as long time fans will surely note – is the balance Wesley has found in his life both on and off stage.  I Am Your Man is essentially Wesley returning to his natural strengths as a groove-based acoustic troubadour, following heavier electric experiments on his previous two records.  Tracks such as “Beautiful” and “Shake” perfectly recapture the slow burning West coast feel that established Wesley’s reputation when he first arrived on the scene in the mid-2000’s with his wide array of folk, reggae, blues and rock influences.

THE HARPOONIST & THE AXE MURDERER

Gates open at 7:00 PM

“With a name like The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, you might be forgiven for thinking that the Vancouver based duo is some sort of concept group based on a hypothetical love story between Captain Ahab and Lizzie Borden” (Chris Oke, Yukon News). In reality, Shawn ‘The Harpoonist’ Hall and Matthew ‘The Axe Murderer’ Rogers evoke much more than just grisly nautical imagery.  Armed with an arsenal of harmonicas, a mess of foot percussion, and road worn Telecaster, the duo kick out raw and primal blues while infusing the genre with a jolt of renewed energy.  Shawn Hall provides the rousing, rugged vocals an blues harmonica, while Matthew Rogers rips on the guitar and pounds the skins with his feet.  Their music is unapologetic.  It slaps you in the face and makes you sweat like it’s a sticky, summer night, it’s the blues played the way it was meant to be played.
